Andrewsarchus was once believed to look something like a giant wolf-like creature. This is how this animal was depicted in the Walking with Beasts documentary. First appearing on the beach in search of food and finding an unfortunate sea turtle on its way back to the ocean after a night of laying eggs. Then later trying to scavenge a dead baby brontothere on the mainland.
The Real Andrewsarchus?
The mysterious mystery mega mammal that is the real Andrewsarchus mongoliensis. Andrewsarchus has been a great mystery ever since its discovery back in 1924 and has hopped in and out of many different animal families. Only known from a single skull and once thought to be the largest carnivorous land mammal to ever exist! This great beast is thought to be a relative to hippos, whales and Entelodonts.
